Dimitrios Katsiklis is a professional chanter and teacher of the Byzantine Music and a researcher in the field of Byzantine Musicology, holding a Diploma in Byzantine Music by M. Chatzimarkos.

Born in Volos, Greece, Dimitrios began learning Byzantine Music at the age of 8 from + M. Meletis, at the Byzantine Music School of Volos. In 1995, at the age of 12, he was tonsured a Reader at the Cathedral of Volos by +Archbishop Christodoulos Paraskevaidis, Metropolitan of Volos at the time.

Dimitrios is a graduate of the Ecclesiastical Highschool of Volos and of the Athoniada Academy of Mt. Athos where he studied Byzantine Music with the fathers at the Vatopedi and Philotheou Monasteries. From 1999-2004 as a novice in St. Anthony’s Monastery in Florence, Arizona, he studied chanting next to Hieromonk Ephraim and he served as a main chanter at the monastery.

Dimitrios holds a BSc in Pastoral Studies from the University Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens, where he studied Byzantine Music with Dr. K. Karagounis.

Dimitrios has held the seat of master chanter at many churches around the Orthodox world, has chanted with the brotherhoods of many of the monasteries on Mount Athos, has been a member of many professional chanting choirs, and has participated on many occasions with different ensembles.

Dimitrios currently resides in Arizona with his wife, Maria, and three children. He teaches Byzantine Music at the Three Hierarchs Academy of Arizona, in Florence, Arizona, which is the first K-8 school in the United States with a full Byzantine Music curriculum that he created. Dimitrios is also a private tutor of byzantine chant and offers both online and in-person courses.
